چکیده
showed increased AChE activity. 7 patients ultimately proved to be cases of Hirschsprung's disease; all but one of the rectal biopsies showed an increased AChE activity in the mucosa, and all biopsies showed an increased activity in the submucosa. From the investigation of resected bowel segments it was shown that the strongest activity occurred in the most distal part of the aganglionic bowel and that the proximal extension of the enhanced activity into the aganglionic segment increased with age. Rectal suction biopsies stained for AChE activity therefore seem to be a valuable diagnostic aid for investigation of constipation. False negative results are possible in young infants, but can be avoided by taking the biopsy immediately proximal to the pectinate line.

Placental Massive Perivillous Fibrinoid Deposition Associated with Coxsackievirus A16-Report of a Case, and Review of the Literature.
Massive placental perivillous fibrinoid deposition in the placenta is thought to be an immune-related condition associated with poor perinatal outcomes, including growth restriction and intrauterine fetal demise, with a high risk of recurrence. Rare cases have been associated with Coxsackievirus infection. We present such a case and review the literature.
متن کاملIn situ neuroblastoma: an important concept related to the natural history of neural crest tumors.
Since the initial description of the entity known as "in situ neuroblastoma," thoughts about the origin, fate, and clinical significance of this anatomic finding have influenced the field of neuroectodermal tumor biology. This paper discusses the importance of the original description of in situ neuroblastoma and how the entity fits into contemporary models of neuroblastoma heterogeneity.
متن کاملRetroperitoneal Anaplastic Neuroblastoma in a 3-Year-Old Female: A Rare Case Report
Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid tumor in childhood. In different classification of neuroblastomas, a subset of undifferentiated or poorly differentiated tumors with bizarre histological features has been mentioned. A 3-year-old girl presented with abdominal pain. Her haematological and biochemical parameters were normal except her urinary vanelylmandelic acid level was elevat...
متن کاملCongenital gliosarcoma: detailed clinicopathologic documentation of a rare neoplasm.
Congenital brain tumors are rare. Clinically, they often result in macrocrania, hydrocephalus, and focal neurologic deficits. Fetal onset may result in dystocia and stillbirth. Antenatal detection is becoming more common as the result of neuroimaging, and modalities such as magnetic resonance imaging can assist in narrowing the pathologic differential diagnoses. Teratomas and astrocytomas appea...
